The 2010 FLOWER INTENTION CALENDAR is posted in the hall by the literature rack in the church.  There are four intentions each week.  Please fill in for whom and from on the calendar. Your donation of $25 for each intention can be placed in the flower envelope located to the right of the calendar.  Please drop your envelope in the collection basket or turn in at the office.

AID TO OUR MILITARY: Your generosity in donations has enabled us to continue sending care packages to our men and women of the military. They do appreciate your support.  Our Knights of Columbus continues to mail these packages. As long as we receive your and the Knights of Columbus support, our military will continue to receive these care packages. StewardshipGraphicIn the Gospel today, Jesus warns us not to give in to hopes of repayment, but to give open-handedly to the poor and needy.  That sort of giving mirrors the bountiful giving of God, and Jesus assures us it is blessed indeed!

 

SPECIAL COLLECTION:  The National Collection for the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. will be taken next weekend, September 4 & 5.  Your contributions directly benefit students at Catholic University from all over the United States, including our own diocese, by funding scholarships for those who would not otherwise be able to attend.  Please be generous.

Come to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on first Friday, September 3rd, and pray for a stronger belief in the reality of Christ’s presence before you.  At the Communion of Mass AND at Benediction of the Sacred Body of Our Lord, heaven truly comes to earth!  Come and unite in Adoration of Jesus with the hosts of angels and saints.

In order to ensure that the Blessed Sacrament does not remain alone, the following committees and organizations have been asked to have their members present at the designated times:

RESPECT LIFE

The Rosary for the Unborn will be prayed next Sunday (and each first Sunday of the month) at the Monument to the Unborn after the 10:30 AM Mass.

 

The Annual Diocesan Respect Life Workshop, “Love Without Measure” will take place on Saturday, September 25, from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM at St. John Neumann School in Columbia.  It is open to all. Speakers will discuss ways to cultivate a culture of love and life in your home, your church, and your community.  Our Bishop will be the first speaker. Lunch will be provided for $5 for those who register before September 17.

 

OUTREACH

Pat’s Lunch Kitchen continues to serve on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with people coming together to enjoy sharing meals and friendship.  Last Wednesday, we served 118 people Fried Chicken, Smoked Sausage, Sauerkraut, Richard’s Beans, Tossed Salad, Fresh Fruit Salad, Assorted Cakes & Pies, and Lemon-flavored Tea.  On Thursday we served 94 people Cream of Potato Soup, Hot Hoagie Sandwiches, Potato Salad, Assorted Desserts and Sweet Tea.   We thank everyone who helps to make these meals a pleasure for all who come.

 

Saturday breakfast is served every Saturday morning, 9:00 to 11:00 AM.  Last weekend we served 50 people French Toast, Sausage, Bacon, Hash, Cereal, OJ/ Coffee/ Milk.

Special thanks to the Parish Office Staff and Religious Education Teachers for serving breakfast in the month of August.  Our Youth Ministry will be serving in September.

PrimeTimers

IMPORTANT SCHEDULE CHANGE – For the 2010 – 2011 season, we will meet on the 2nd Friday of each month (instead of the 3rd Friday) at the Parish Life Center.

As September approaches, we resume our get-togethers for The PrimeTimers Group. All parishioners (55 & older) are welcome to join us in the Parish Life Center once a month, starting on Friday, September 10th, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. We play BINGO, offer prizes, serve refreshments and enjoy some fun filled afternoons. Come join the fun. ·   NO SYG Labor Day weekend September 5th or Confirmation weekend September 12th.  Will resume for regular classes Sunday, September 19th immediately following the 10:30 mass – 1:30 for lunch and lesson.

 

Confirmation Class (7th, 8th & 9th Grades)

·   Reminder that all confirmation candidates must attend Confession before receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation!! 

·   Please remember to bring your Confirmation Entry Forms to the Parish Office for Renee!! 

 

Women’s Club

 

MEMBERSHIP DUES: Dues are payable at all General Meetings, HOWEVER if you want your name included in the 2010-2011 edition of the Women’s Club Directory. DUES MUST BE PAID by the OCTOBER 7th GENERAL MEETING. Those who plan on mailing their dues directly to the Committee Chairperson, your check MUST BE RECEIVED BY OCTOBER 10th to be included in the Directory. Dues are $15 - Cash or Check. BYOB!  Bring Your Old Books for the Book Sale booth at the craft show and place them in the box at the back of church. Operation H.O.P.E. - Next weekend, September 3-5, Council 11028 will be making its final push of the year for Operation H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everyday), better known as the "Tootsie Roll Drive". Council 11028 thanks all for their support and kindness in the past and hopes that when you see the Knights at the local grocery stores and after all the Masses next weekend, you will contribute whatever you can and have a Tootsie Roll on us.
