QUILTS OF VALOR – will be on display in church next weekend, July 3-4, in honor of Independence Day.

In Nov. 2003, Catherine Roberts of Seaford, Delaware began Quilts of Valor.  Her son was being deployed to Iraq and, being a quilter of many years, it occurred to her this was a way to provide comfort, love and healing prayers plus pay a tribute to the combat wounded.    Since that time, over 28,300 quilts have been presented to comfort our wounded heroes.  Quilts of Valor will be needed for quite some time -- as long as we are at war and until all of our wounded have one.

Our reasons for involvement are:  our love of our country – coming from a patriotic generation it is an honor to do what we do – our husbands have served in all of the services, as well as several of us ladies have served also – it is our small way to thank those who have given so much.

Our small group, “The Beachlovin' Grannies of the Carolinas” are nearing the 400th quilt delivered into the hands of a wounded warrior.  There are several ways to get involved:

Donate patriotic fabric; from 1 yard to many yards -- all will be used.  Make a quilt top.  And pray for the end of war and the end of the need for Quilts of Valor.  Call Helen Faulstich 843-235-2713 for more information.   Thank you.

StewardshipGraphicIn today’s second reading, St. Paul provides a wonderful one-sentence summary of Christian stewardship:  Out of love, place yourselves at one another’s service.

CHRISTIAN WILLS SEMINAR - We are pleased to announce that our 2nd seminar on Christian Wills will take place on July 29 from 6:30–7:45 PM in Founders Hall.  Food and refreshments will be provided from 6:00–6:30 PM for the convenience of participants. Parishioners will receive a letter with the agenda and more registration information from Fr. Pat in the next few days.

Special Collection - Today we support the Holy Father in his charitable works.  The Peter’s Pence Collection is taken up worldwide in an effort of solidarity to support the most disadvantaged: victims of war, oppression, and natural disaster and others in need of emergency assistance.  Pope Benedict XVI has said, “God’s love . . . gives us the courage to continue seeking and working for the benefit of all” (Caritas in Veritate, no. 78).  Cast the love of Christ upon the world—please be generous in today’s Collection.
