QUILTS
OF VALOR
– will be on display in church the
weekend of July 2-3 in honor of Independence Day.
In Nov. 2003, Catherine Roberts of Seaford,
Delaware began Quilts of Valor. Her son was being deployed to Iraq and,
being a quilter of many years, it occurred to her this was a way to provide
comfort, love and healing prayers plus pay a tribute to the combat
wounded. Since that time, over 28,300 quilts have been
presented to comfort our wounded heroes.
Quilts of Valor will be needed for quite some time -- as long as we are
at war and until all of our wounded have one.
Our reasons for
involvement are: our love of our country
– coming from a patriotic generation it is an honor to do what we do – our
husbands have served in all of the services, as well as several of us ladies
have served also – it is our small way to thank those who have given so much.
Our small
group, “The Beachlovin' Grannies of the Carolinas” are nearing the
400th quilt delivered into the hands of a wounded warrior. There are several ways to get involved:
Donate patriotic
fabric; from 1 yard to many yards -- all will be
used. Make a quilt top.
And pray for the end of war and the end of the need for Quilts of
Valor. Call Helen Faulstich 843-235-2713
for more information. Thank you.
PBOC
Gift Shop is open on
Wednesdays from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, and for a half-hour after all weekend Masses.
“Who do you say that I am?” Jesus
asks Peter in today’s Gospel. Does my
use of the gifts and talents entrusted to me acurately reflect my answer to that same question? How willing am I to deny myself, take up my
cross, and follow in His steps?
(See Luke 9:20)

In Prayer We Will Always Be Together
Dear friends:
Please note that there will be no monthly Mass and fellowship in
June, July and August. We will, however,
continue to be present at First Friday Adoration every month. Come join us for an hour of quiet devotion
from 3:00 – 4:00 PM in the church; we chant the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3
o’clock. A meal together afterwards and
lively conversation is always a pleasant experience! Let’s keep in touch: Betty can be reached at 237-9298, and Mabel
at 235-0080. Enjoy the lazy, hazy days
of summer, you all.
Ministry of Caring
Do you live alone or need to hear a friendly
voice? Let us know. You could receive a
phone call from a fellow parishioner. A
simple “Hello, How are you?” Please call Patty at the parish office if
you are interested (237-3428, ext. 0).

June Shea, Vice President; Jessica Dezendorf, Treasurer; Nancy Szarowicz,

There will be a Board Meeting on Thursday, June 24 at
10:15 AM in the large meeting room. The outgoing Board and Committee Chairs
should plan to attend, as well as new Board members and new committee chairs.
Please e-mail Marcia at mombny@yahoo.com if you will be able to be there.
There will also be a
meeting at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 24, to begin preparations for the Welcome Tea in August. Any member who
would like to help with this is asked to attend.
A meeting for
formation of committees to help in the planning of events to celebrate the Women’s Club 25th Anniversary should
plan to meet @ 2:00 PM in the large classroom. It is hoped that all members,
newer and long standing, will participate in what is hoped to be a year-long
celebration. We need information and stories from everyone, past and present.
This would be a great time for former members who were so instrumental in the
formation of this Women's Club to think about joining us once again.

MEALS ON WHEELS NEEDS VOUNTEERS URGENTLY
The Meals
on Wheels program brings meals to the homebound, elderly, sick, and disabled in
our community. Many of our volunteers
are unable to continue. They have served
the community and the program excellently.
We now need new replacement volunteers.
Deacon Phil in his “Reflections” article asks the question: “Have we been of service as shepherds to one
another?” This program allows us to
answer this question with an experience of true charity. We also meet a lot of very wonderful people. Please volunteer! Call Pat Burg at 237-3178.
