They do appreciate your support.  Our Knights of Columbus continues to mail these packages. As long as we receive your and the Knights of Columbus support, our military will continue to receive these care packages. Again, thank you.  As always your prayers are requested for our military and their safe return.  – John Glinka

StewardshipGraphicIn today’s Gospel, the disciples suggest that Jesus disperse the crowd so that they might individually seek food and lodging.  The miracle of the feeding of the five thousand is Jesus’ powerful reminder that when we share our gifts in His name there is always more than enough!

OUTREACH

GRACE MINISTRIES is a faith-based, non-profit organization that encourages community involvement in the lives of our aging population and enables them to continue living independently and gracefully in the place they most desire.  Neighbor to Neighbor is a program of Grace Ministries that provides basic life support to older adults who want to remain in their own homes.  The Precious Blood of Christ Outreach ministry has partnered with the Neighbor to Neighbor program.  Typical services include transportation, medical and quality of life, visitation and reassurance calls.  Perhaps you know someone in need of their services, or you may consider becoming a volunteer with their program.  Consider becoming a “Carolina Neighbor”.  It’s a way to change lives…both yours and your neighbors!  Call Joy Hanner at 234-0818 for further information.

fr_pat_b&wFr. Pat’s Lunch Kitchen continues to serve on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with people coming together to enjoy sharing meals and friendship.  Last Wednesday we served 155 people Garden Salad with Dressing, Broiled Chicken Breast with Herb Sauce, Oven-roasted Garlic & Rosemary Potatoes, Assorted Rolls & Butter, Pies & Cakes and Lemon Sweet Tea.  On Thursday we served 81 people Tomato Soup, Ham& Turkey Quesadillas, Black Bean/Corn & Tomato Salsa, Assorted Cakes & Pies and Lemon Sweet Tea.

Saturday breakfast is served every Saturday morning, 9:00 to 11:00 AM.  Last weekend we served 61 people Eggs, Bacon, Hash, Fruit Cocktail, Cereal, OJ/ Coffee/ Milk.

We thank everyone who helps to make these meals a pleasure for all who come.

Food CollectionJust a reminder…the second Sunday of each month is our food drive for the Baskervill Ecumenical Food Pantry.  Precious Blood is responsible for spaghetti and spaghetti sauce.  There is a basket in the gathering space where you can leave your donations at any time.  This is a way we can come together as a community to help those in need.  Thank you for your generosity.

GOOD GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP – Our group will not be meeting in June, but you are invited to attend St. Michael’s Grief Group meeting on Thursday, June 10th at 11:00 AM in PAC Hall.  (They meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.)  The leader is Nita Botor, and both men and women attend the meetings.  The group covers all losses such as a spouse, child, divorce, or pet.  You may bring pictures of your loved one who has passed away to share with the group.  After the meeting, those who have the time will go out to lunch.  (Suggestions for lunch locations are welcome from all.)  Any questions, please call Nita at 357-4416.

Religious ed review

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL was held at

PBOC June 1-3.  Our theme this year was

“Let the Son Shine In”!  Over 60 children attended each night and learned Old Testament Bible lessons and songs.  A highlight was the skits the children performed about the lessons they learned.  Awesome Inflatable Rides provided a “wild, water night” on Wednesday.  The arrival of the “Brigit’s Irish Ice” truck in front of the PLC on Tuesday was once again a favorite of all of the participants.  All of the children were treated to delicious “Irish” ice.  Fr. Pat celebrated Mass in the PLC on Thursday for the youth and their families, followed by a cookout.  All of the children took home t-shirts, bookmarks and religious necklaces to remember the week.

Many thanks to all of the volunteers who made this week possible:  Ryan Millane, Joy Millane, Sam Insignares, Madeline King, Sarah Ellerbe, Jamie Barnett, Caroline Barnett, Lauren Tilmont, Annie Arneman, Tommy Arneman, Cam Sweeney, Shannon Gallagher, Lucy Parr, Rob Ferraro, Nikki Legg, Eric Robles, Erica Robles, Ashley Kerr, Michael Mayeaux, Maggie Mayeaux, Emili Walker, Amanda Walker, Mary Clark, Jody Paglio, Martha Insignares, Dana Arneman, and Ellen Sullivan.

A very special thank you to Fr. Pat for his enthusiastic and generous support of VBS and all of the youth activities at PBOC!
