The 2010 FLOWER INTENTION CALENDAR is posted in the hall by the literature rack in the church.  There are four intentions each week.  Please fill in for whom and from on the calendar. Your donation of $25 for each intention can be placed in the flower envelope located to the right of the calendar.  Please drop your envelope in the collection basket or turn in at the office.

AID TO OUR MILITARY: Your generosity in donations has enabled us to continue sending care packages to our  men and  women of the  military. They do appreciate your support.  Our Knights of Columbus continues to mail these packages. HELP NEEDED

A very integral and necessary part of our church's life needs your help!  The Small Altar Linen Committee needs someone to step up to take the one week of the month in the quarter that has five (5) Mondays.  Also, the Altar Guild needs someone to replace Elaine Quadrozzi as co-chair to work with Suzanne Harris.  You may express an interest in finding out more about the details of this worthwhile ministry by calling Suzanne Harris 503-8247.

MINISTRY OF CARE

Let us know of your loved one confined to home, in the hospital or recovering from surgery and now home.  (Hospitals will not give out patient information, so we have no way of knowing your needs.)  Our ministry is to unite the sick and recovering followers of Christ with the Body of Christ, they are not ALONE.  Please call the parish office at 237-3428, Christine at 237-2096, or Anne at 237-0401.

Fr. Pat’s Lunch Kitchen continues to serve on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with people coming together to enjoy sharing meals and friendship.  Last Wednesday we served 91 people Shrimp Lo Mein, Beef Stroganoff, Buttered Egg Noodles, Baked Fresh Vegetables, Bread/Butter, Bananas & Oranges, Assorted Desserts and Sweet Lemon Tea.  On Thursday we served 73 people Beef Noodle Soup, Grilled Cheeseburgers, Potato Chips, Assorted Desserts and Sweet Lemon Tea.

 

 

 

 

Saturday breakfast is served every Saturday morning, 9:00 to 11:00 AM.  Last weekend we served 53 people Pancakes, Sausage, Fruit Cocktail, Cereal, OJ/Coffee/Milk.

We thank everyone who helps to make these meals a pleasure for all who come.

GOOD GRIEF - Bereavement Support Group

Fr. Pat will discuss his experience with individuals and families as they work their way through the grieving process, in addition to answering any questions, at our next meeting on Tuesday, May 18, at 10:30 AM in the PLC, Room 2.  In the spirit of giving uplifting support to men & women who are dealing with issues of grief and loss – any loss: of a loved one, family member, job or relationship – all are welcome to attend. A light refreshment follows the meeting.  If you would like to attend, or for more information, please contact Pat David at 650-2244.

 

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY – Our next meeting is Thursday, May 20 at 1:00 PM in the PLC.  Prayer shawls are available at the Parish Office for anyone who is ill and in need of prayers and comfort.  For more info call Margaret Plikaitis at 235-0955. 

 

PrimeTimers - MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

We will be having the June Installation and Grants Luncheon on June 3, at 11:30 am at Tara Ballroom at Litchfield by the Sea. MC900227296[1]This year the JOY School Lunch Program will be provided by the Women's Club the week of June 14 to18. Menu suggestions are provided, and it helps to have two or more women per day, depending on the menu.  A coordinator for this project is needed, but does not have to be available every day. If you would like to take on this easy project let Marcia Boyer or Joan Baker know as soon as possible.

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS

  Saint Michael Council No. 8980 Knights of Columbus are celebrating their 25th Anniversary on Sunday, June 13, 2010 following the 11:00 AM Mass.  This Mass will be celebrated by the Most  Reverend Robert E. Guglielmone, Bishop of Charleston.

                                A gala reception will immediately follow the Mass in Duffy Center.  Dinner will be served at 1:00 PM.  Gentlemen’s dress code is jacket and tie.  Reservations and payment required and accepted until June 1.  For more information or to make a reservation, please call Mike Gray at 215-3505 by June 1st.
