The 2010 FLOWER INTENTION CALENDAR is posted in the hall by the literature rack in the church.  There are four intentions each week.  Please fill in for whom and from on the calendar. Your donation of $25 for each intention can be placed in the flower envelope located to the right of the calendar.  Please drop your envelope in the collection basket or turn in at the office.

Advance admission tickets for $4 each are now on sale. Tickets can be purchased during business hours at the church office, at the Pawleys Island branch of Conway National Bank and at Strand Spine Institute on Ocean Highway.  Volunteers will be in the PLC lobby Monday-Wednesday from 9:00 to 11:00 AM selling admission tickets and door prize tickets. With the door prize tickets, you get four opportunities to win a Nikon D3000 SLR digital camera for only $10.

AID TO OUR MILITARY: Your response in donating for our military care packages is needed to enable us to continue sending packages.   Troops  like to receive Pringles, chex mix, chips, granola bars, beef  jerky, cheeto’s,  peanuts, cheese and peanut butter cracker packs, etc. which can be in bags marked “Military”, and dropped off  at  parish office.  Our K of C members have generously mailed these packages.  Your prayers are requested for our military and their safe return.   – John Glinka

Come to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on first Friday, April 9th, and pray for a stronger belief in the reality of Christ’s presence before you.  At the Communion of Mass AND at Benediction of the Sacred Body of Our Lord, heaven truly comes to earth!  Come and unite in Adoration of Jesus with the hosts of angels and saints.

In order to ensure that the Blessed Sacrament does not remain alone, the following committees and organizations have been asked to have their members present at the designated times:

DivineMercyDIVINE MERCY - The Sunday after Easter has been designated as Divine Mercy Sunday.  This year Divine Mercy Sunday will fall on April 11.  According to the Diary of St. Faustina the Sacred Heart of Jesus stated that: “on Divine Mercy Sunday all who go to Confession, receive Communion, and attend the Divine Mercy Service will receive extensive graces including a plenary indulgence.”  Precious Blood of Christ will be holding the Divine Mercy Service at 2:30 PM.

 

Rosary Makers – Volunteers (women and men) are wanted to make rosaries. Our next meeting is April 8th at 9:30 AM in the PLC.

 

MINISTRY OF CARE

Let us know of your loved one confined to home, in the hospital or recovering from surgery and now home.  (Hospitals will not give out patient information, so we have no way of knowing your needs.)  Our ministry is to unite the sick and recovering followers of Christ with the Body of Christ, they are not ALONE.  Please call the parish office at 237-3428, Christine at 237-2096, or Anne at 237-0401.

 

OUTREACH

Food Collection

Just a reminder…the second Sunday of each month is our food drive for the Baskervill Ecumenical Food Pantry.  Precious Blood is responsible for spaghetti and spaghetti sauce.  There is a basket in the gathering space where you can leave your donations at any time.  This is a way we can come together as a community to help those in need.  Thank you for your generosity.

Fr. Pat’s Lunch Kitchen continues to serve on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with people coming together to enjoy sharing meals and friendship.  Last Wednesday we served 94 people Roast Brisket of Beef, Gravy, Oven-browned Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts, Rolls & Butter, Assorted Desserts and Sweet Tea.  On Thursday we served 80 people Cream of Tomato Soup, Fish Sandwiches with Cheese, Beef Burritos, Assorted Desserts and Sweet Tea.

 

Saturday breakfast is served every Saturday morning, 9:00 to 11:00 AM.  Last weekend we served 65 people Pancakes, Eggs, Bacon, Biscuits, Fruit Cocktail, Cereal, OJ/Coffee/Milk.

 

 

 

 

 We thank everyone who helps to make these meals a pleasure for all who come.  Special thanks to Prayer & Worship’s Extraordinary Ministers for serving breakfast in the month of March.  The Men’s Group and the Stewardship Committee will be serving in April.

PrimeTimers - MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

Attention parishioners (55 & older), The PrimeTimers will be holding their regular Bingo games on Friday, April 16 at 1:00 PM.  Call a friend or fellow parishioner and invite them to join our friendly, fun-loving group of regular Bingo Players. We play BINGO, offer terrific prizes, serve refreshments and enjoy a fun filled afternoon. GOOD GRIEF - Bereavement Support Group

In the spirit of giving uplifting support to men & women who are dealing with issues of grief and loss – any loss: of a loved one, family member, job or relationship –  all are welcome to attend our next meeting on Tuesday, April 13th at 10:30 AM in the PLC, Room 4.   A light refreshment follows the meeting.  If you would like to attend, or for more information, please contact Pat David at 650-2244.

The guest speaker will be Sr. Donna Lareau of the Sisters of Charity who will be speaking on Mother Seton and her role in the world and how that relates to the Women’s Club and our prayer life. There is limited seating so tickets need to be purchased early this year. Tickets are $5, which will include a continental breakfast and a box lunch. The day will begin with 8:30 Mass if you choose or continental breakfast at Founders Hall at 9:30 and end with a question and answer period followed by a closing prayer at 3 PM. Those desiring transportation to Founders Hall need to make that known at the time of ticket purchase. You may also call Suzanne Harris at 503-8247 for tickets.

Women's Club Cookbook - Kathy Knittel and Bernice Rucker have begun working on a Cookbook from our Women's Club. They are looking forward to working with the ladies to publish a Cookbook of Appetizers and Desserts by September in time for the new year and the Craft Fair. They will start collecting recipes that are tried and true in April. So begin looking through your recipes, add interesting side stories, and join in the fun.  Anyone interested in helping with this future fundraiser please call Kathy 235-6939 or Bernice 237-5614.

HAPPY EASTER! The officers and members of Council 11028 would like to wish all of our members, parishioners and visitors and their families and friends the happiest and most blessed Easter.  May the promises of renewal that spring forth from the Resurrection add an extra sense of renewal and direction in our lives.

Fourth Degree!  The 4th Degree has two major events coming in April.  The first is the Spring Formal to be held in a private room at the Hot Fish Club on April 13 starting at 6:00 PM with cocktails.  There is a wide range of entree selections and reservations must be made by April 6.  The cost is $25.00/person with a cash bar.  To make reservations and select your entree contact Phil Brice at 357-4910. The second is the April meeting and nomination of officers, PAC Hall at St. Michaels on April 22 at 7:30 PM.

 
What's Your Excuse?  What's your excuse for not joining the Knights of Columbus?  Most will tell you that it was because they were never asked to join.  Council 11028 would like to ask every male, 18 or older and a practicing Catholic to join the Knights of Columbus.  To have all your questions answered and to find out how to join contact Council Membership Director, Tom Dalton, at 235-8295 or Grand Knight, Tom Cardea at 237-4120.

 

DIOCESAN NEWS

 

WOMEN’S RETREAT - The South Carolina Council of Catholic Women Pee Dee Deanery will host a retreat “Celebrating Womanspirit” on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church Community Life Center from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM followed by Mass.  Mary Miller, spiritual director will facilitate the day of reflection.  The cost is $10.00 per person which included lunch and beverages.  Open to all Christian women.  For reservations contact Caroline Paulhus 843-692-9932 or Marlene Grover 843-238-0576.
