StewardshipGraphic

Today’s second reading warns that a heart consumed with avarice and envy leads to jealousy, strife, conflicts, and disputes.  A giving heart, in contrast, can sing instead with the psalmist, “Freely will I offer you sacrifice; I will praise your name, O Lord, for its goodness.”  (See Psalm 54)

STEWARDSHIP -  ANNUAL PLANNED GIVING PLEDGE

Next week, parishioners will be receiving the annual Planned Giving mailing asking for your Giving Intention for 2010. Parishioner support of this program, launched last year, has been substantial and has helped us be better stewards of your financial support.

We look forward to more parish families supporting this program by sharing, in confidence, their Planned Giving Intention for 2010.  When you receive the mailing and reflect on your planning intention and whether to donate using envelopes or electronically, we ask that you give special consideration to using one of the electronic options. By doing so, you will no longer need to write checks or bring cash to church; have peace-of-mind knowing that the church is receiving your contribution even if you are unable to attend; and have all contributions recorded for you on your bank or credit card statements

OFFICE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – If you would like to help out in the parish office one Friday afternoon per month (with the bulletins), please contact Barbara at 237-4120.

RESPECT LIFE

A Message from Bishop Robert Guglielmone…

In Holy Scripture we see how God brought about wondrous transformations in 40 Days.  Many of us recognize a need in our country for transformation, so despair can be replaced with hope and a Culture of Death can be replaced by a Culture of Life.  I invite you to be a part of this positive change by participating in 40 Days for Life–Fall Campaign that runs from September 23 through November 1 in Charleston, Columbia and Greenville.

40 Days for Life is an ecumenical pro-life campaign that has generated measurable lifesaving results.  This faith-based effort consists of three key components:  Prayer and Fasting, Peaceful Vigil outside the local abortion clinic and Community Outreach. Maybe you cannot do all three things, but I ask you to pray in faith because Jesus reminds us that faith can move mountains.

Please visit http://www/40daysforlife.com/location.cfm to find the contact information for your local 40 Days for Life coordinator, or you can call the Family Life at (803) 547-5063.

LIFE CHAIN in Georgetown on October 4
