A PRAYER FOR PRIESTS
Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.
Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.
Help our priests to be strong in their vocation.
Set their souls on fire with love for your people.
Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in
the footsteps of Jesus.
Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.
Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.
Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.
Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal
Priest. Amen.

The crowd in today’s Gospel demanded a sign from
Jesus. May our faithful stewardship be a
sign to others that we, like the Ephesians in the second reading, have laid
aside our former way of life and acquired a “fresh, spiritual way of thinking”
in Christ.
Special Collection: The “Acquisition of Land Colletion” will be
taken up next weekend, August 8 & 9.
“There
is a need to purchase land in various areas of the Diocese. This is most important for our commitment to
evangelization, to transforming ourselves and the world in which we live, to
deepening our conversion to discipleship and stewardship. The timing is such that this is a very good
time for purchase. I continue to thank God for your dedicated efforts and ask
God to bless you as we continue to do God’s work in the Church of Charleston. ”
- Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
The second of the four winners of this year’s
Knights of Columbus Catholic Youth Action Award is Molly Williams.
Molly has been an altar server for ten years,
four years in the Diocesan Youth Conference, and in the Catholic leadership
institute for five years. Attended frequent
ladies retreats, attended World Youth Day in Australia. Taught Sunday school for two years, was a
volunteer at various Church functions such as Tastes at Pawleys, the Church
Easter Egg Hunt and the Disabilities Ball.
She maintained high academic standards at Waccamaw High School, found
time to hold down part-time gainful employment and served as a trusted baby
sitter.
Most importantly, she
exhibits the true Christian characteristic of love. It is one thing to sympathize with a
suffering friend. It is a further step
to empathize with that friend, but it is a Christian act of love to will their
good for their sake and to accompany that friend throughout the difficult
journey of terminal illness. Molly did
and continues to do just that in a way that is both inspirational and worthy of
recognition. Her love and kindness to
her friend continues on to the girl’s siblings and family.
Reminder: The Knights of Columbus Business Meeting is this Thursday, August 6, at
7:00 PM in Founders Hall.
