In Prayer We Will Always Be Together
Monthly
Mass will be held on May 26, Tuesday at 8:30 AM – followed by
refreshments and “Let’s Talk About…” presented by Phyllis Daniel, in Room 2 at
the PLC.
At our
May 1st gathering, parishioner John O’Boyle shared with us the
tragic true story of a young American Maryknoll nun, whose missionary life was
cut short by terrorists during the 1960’s political upheaval in El Salvador,
Central America. John asked us to
remember Sister Dorothy Kazel and other martyrs of El Salvador in our prayers
for peace. Thank you, John.

SCHOOL
CHOICE - The past several weeks have
seen a renewed push on the part of parents and other interested parties in
legislation to allow for real choice in education for parents in South
Carolina. The legislation is aimed at:
a) giving parents a modest tax credit when they choose to educate their
children outside the public school system; and b) providing a tax credit to
those who would give to scholarship funds for children in low-income
households. All people of good will
recognize the rightful role of parents to direct the education of their
children. The South Carolina Education
Opportunity Act (S.520) would help parents fulfill this responsibility.
The Diocese of
Charleston testified on April 29 before the Senate sub-committee on Education
in favor of S.520. The bill passed and
will go before the Senate Education Committee. We encourage you to contact your
senators without delay in support of this bill.
