Forgiveness, too, is a gift from God.  Freed from the paralysis of sin, the man in today’s Gospel was able to stand and give witness to the power of God.  How do I let sin cripple me?  Am I a good steward of the gift of God’s forgiveness?

Parish Coffee to Celebrate Stewardship at PBOC

All parishioners are invited to join with Fr. Pat in a Celebration of Stewardship Coffee immediately following our 10:30 AM outdoor Mass on March 8.  During this one-hour event, you will hear of the recent good works of our parish and learn more about some specific areas of need to which you may be able to bring your time and talent.

Bishops Stewardship Appeal 2009

What should I give?

A Gift of Prayer – Pray for the church, for our diocesan family, and for all people who support or are supported by the BSA.

Time and Talent – Volunteer in your parish, school, community, and in diocesan ministries.

A Sacrificial Gift – Consider making a pledge or one-time financial gift to support the ministries of our diocese.  Please continue working toward your Stewardship Commitment of 10%, designating 5% to your parish, 1% to the diocese, and 4% to other charities.

FINAL REPORT OF CY2008 BSA CAMPAIGN

The final update regarding PBOC participation levels in the CY2008 Bishop’s Stewardship Appeal was received on 1 February 2009.  As of that date, our parish has recorded a contribution level of $42,170.00 in respect to an assigned goal of $29,455.00 for the Campaign. Therefore, we are at approximately 143% of our stated goal.  A total of 236 parish families has participated, or 23% of our enrollment.

It is also important to note that all funds received over the targeted goal amount will be shared equally with the parish.  During CY2007 this resulted in a windfall rebate to the parish of approximately $7,000.00, which was utilized to fund for office equipment in the parish offices.  This year’s anticipated windfall refund of approximately $6,400.00 will be utilized to upgrade computer equipment in our parish office.

While the diocese goal for the CY 2009 Appeal is same as the prior year, the target assigned to PBOC has increased to $38,086.00.  Please review the BSA pledge forms and data sheets sent directly to all registered parishioners by the Charleston Diocese.  You can utilize that form for your contribution or pledge. Included with your quarterly collections envelopes will be a monthly (red/white) envelope for the BSA.  Should you prefer this method of payment, the envelope can be deposited in the weekly offerings collection at Mass.  All sums are appreciated, regardless of size and we thank you for your demonstrated sacrifices made to assist others throughout our diocese.

Thank you in advance and may God bless you.

Respectfully,

MIKE LENHART, Chairman, BSA

Prayer & worship

OPERATION RICE BOWL – As part of our faith community’s Lenten observance, we will participate in Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program, Operation Rice Bowl.  Since 1975, Operation Rice Bowl has inspired Catholics in the United States to pray, fast, learn and give as we increase our understanding of our global community.  We will connect this understanding with the principles of Catholic Social Teaching throughout our Lenten journey.  We encourage you to participate in Operation Rice Bowl at home with your family and loved ones.  They are available in the gathering space.
