In June
1999, Precious Blood of Christ proudly dedicated its new, 800 seat church. It is
designed to accommodate expansion to 1000. We are currently experiencing attendance of 250 to 600 parishioners and guests per
Mass at each of our
three Masses on the weekend. The higher attendance is during the peak summer
vacation period. Our Sunday participation is growing at about 6% per year. The
building, including land and furnishings,
cost $2,150,000. Additionally a rectory for our pastor was purchased
at a cost of $133,000.
On July 7, 1985,
the first Mass was celebrated in the original Precious Blood Church,
a 1200 square foot,
four-car garage
located on the current property when it was purchased by the diocese.
In June 1988Father
Francis J. Travis became the first full-time Pastor at Precious Blood.
Plans to expand the worship space were formulated during this period. The
expansion of the four-car garage to a larger worship space,
a 2600 square foot addition
seating 240 was completed in November 1992. It is
currently utilized for parish-wide activities, breakfasts, dinner-dances, etc.
Our new Parish Life Center includes multi-purpose facility
to accommodate the fellowship needs of our parish. It seats 450-banquet
style. The current Founders Hall continues to function and serve
smaller functions.
